Jacksonville History Center: Speaker Series

MLA vice president, Elizabeth Boggs, recently shared the compelling story of the St. Johns River Lighthouse as part of the Jacksonville History Center’s Speaker Series. We are grateful to everyone who attended to learn more about our mission to relocate and restore the lighthouse. It was wonderful to see so many new faces in the audience!

We are so appreciative of the warm welcome extended by the Jacksonville History Center staff and want to thank Board Chair Kristanna Barnes for the kind introduction. The interior photos of the lighthouse were the hit of the evening as the audience’s gasp was audible when they saw the first photos of the beautiful masonry work and granite stairs. Every person who sees its beauty and understands why it needs to be preserved strengthens the effort to save it.
